Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch [Review]

Synopsis:

A heartbroken girl. A fierce warrior. A hero in the making.

Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.

Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.

So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.

Review:

Okay so first of all let me just ramble about how much i enjoyed this book. It has an amazingly action packed story line full of mystery and just a lot of stuff goes down and you wont stop flipping the pages.
The plot was overall really great everything was portrayed beautifully all of the scenarios and the magic in this book was a bit complicated to me at first but then i could figure it out. The main plot tist in this book i did figure out before it came but it was still a really good one.

the characters in this book were well written i felt a connection to specially Meira our main character and the way she wants a life of her own. There are so many awesome quotes i can take out of this book.
Meira is strong and has such a strong will even at really bad situations where i thought she would give in, she never did. She always amazed me by her strength.
Mather did annoy me sometimes, i wont say why because spoilers but I am not sure i did like him that much.

I liked the writing style, nothing complicated for me eventhough i did have a bit of hard time figuring out how the magic works im sure it wont be a problem to anyone else. I can see how people compare this book to avatar, and specially the legend of Korra ( Season 2, wink wink ;) )

I would recommend this book to any fanatasy lover out ther because it was SO great. i can't get enough of it's amazingness.

I gave this book ★★★★ on Goodreads.
