Review: Dorothy Must Die series by Danielle Paige

Synopsis:
I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't ask to be some kind of hero.

But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado - taking you with it - you have no choice but to go along, you know?

Sure, I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little bluebirds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can't be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There's still a yellow brick road - but even that's crumbling.

What happened? Dorothy.

They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.

My name is Amy Gumm - and I'm the other girl from Kansas.

I've been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked.

I've been trained to fight.

And I have a mission: Dorothy Must Die.

Review
I love and absolutely adore retellings, even more if it's an innocent story that gets twisted, wicked and badass. I love this series so much and i can't get over the fact of how amazing it is.

The plot is around Amy Gumm that get's sucked into the magical world of Oz that isn't so magical anymore. The story is mysterious, and fast paced. There is always something going on in this wicked Oz.

The writing is from Amy's point of view, really funny and relatable character (if any of us were in that position). I found the writing to be perfect, it transported me to Oz and I loved how everything was described, he scenery and all the magical things. It was all amazing, sometimes terrifying, but amazing.
For the most part of he story you don' really know what is going on, since Amy doesn't really know either, and there are so much other things going on in the story that you have no idea of, which results in many plot twists and unexpected turns in the story.

I loved Amy Gumm as main character, she is funny, she has the sass, and she sometimes doesn't think before saying stuff, which makes me like her more because that is exactly how i am.
Dorothy as a villain was perfect, sassy, bitchy and doesn't care for anyone but herself, Absolutely LOVED how evil she was, she wasn't evil for bigger reasons, just because she is selfish.
The Wicked are my favorite characters ever, every single one of them.
The characters in this book are flawed, but yet i find them to be refreshing, they aren't as perfect as many fairy tail story or characters, for example the lovely Glamora.

The best character relationships that there are in this story are Amy and Starr, I loved the friendship they have and how much they care about each other, like Amy said, They both know they are in this together and they push through together.

This series is a must read for everyone, its mysterious, funny, exciting and overall just a really fun time. I'm so glad i picked up this book and I can not wait for the next book. You will fly through this book because there is so much going on.

If you like to have a fun, adventurous time, just pick up this book, Actually you should pick up this book immediately.

I gave this book ★★★★★ on Goodreads.

  1. I've seen this series around for ages now so I can't believe I still haven't read it ahah, especially when I see so many raving reviews! Amy sounds like such a cool character (it's very easy to relate to someone who doesn't always think before doing/saying something xD) Anyways, lovely review!

  3. Amycan be described as a predictable character while Wicked acts according to some commands of the unexpected evil will! But what do I tell? Evil people's behavior develops always in the same direction - to the worst!
